Brewing news Belgium: InBev beer cutbacks brew discontent

Global beer giant InBev has prompted protests in Europe with its moves to further whittle down the number of beers it produces, Wall Street Journal communicated on September 26th.

Desperate to improve results in its fading European business, InBev has been modernizing production and streamlining its product line. In its latest move, the brewing conglomerate is closing down its brewery in Hoegaarden and moving production of its wheat beer from its roots to the Jupille brewery about 35 miles away, where it brews the Jupiler brand.

The closure has provoked a series of strikes from workers and protests from connoisseurs.
