EU: Malting barley prices are out of control

A French newspaper called the market of malting barley “out of control”, reports said September 01. Virtually all quotes are nominal but prices keep rising in empty markets.

Here are the French quotes, basis July, in brackets early July quotes for comparison: 2RS Scarlett, FOB Creil €150.00 (120.00), FOB Moselle €162.00; 6RW Esterel FOB Creil €130.00 (106.00), FOB Moselle €137.00.

Danish 2RS optional variety, October, FOB seaport €162.00.

German 2RS, September, delivered maltings Sachsen/Thüringen €170.00, Rhine €168.00, Bavaria €165.00.
