China: Industries to absorb more domestic malting barley supplies

As offers of Canadian and Australian malting barley CIF China have risen to levels around US$200, Chinese industries will probably absorb more domestic supplies than in past years, reports stated August 01.

Specialists estimate that at least 2.2 million tons must be imported, also for reasons of malt quality. Chinese beer production, 306 million hl last year, is rising further.
