Brewing news Uganda: Nile Breweries to invest US$3.5 million at Jinja plant

Nile Breweries has earmarked $3.5 million (about UGX6.5 billion) to upgrade various systems at the Jinja plant in order to increase efficiency, writes James Odomel, The New Vision released August 01.

In an interview recently, the technical director, Trevor Gray, said “We are upgrading most of our systems ranging from the brew house, refrigeration system, bottle washing machines to the milling machine.”

Gray said, “We are to spend an additional US$600,000 (UGX1.1 billion) to upgrade the brew house in addition to installation of a new mash filter which was worth $850,000 (UGX1.6 billion).”

Gray said upgrading of the refrigeration system is expected to cost US$250,000 (UGX460 million).
