EU: Malting barley prices at least €10 higher than a few weeks ago
In world grain markets the EU is not competitive, in barley not against the Black Sea, analysts commented August 01. Price development in malting barley markets reflects the fear of an undersupply of quality barley. French 2RS Scarlett, July, FOB Creil is quoted €132.00, FOB Moselle traded at €140.00. Denmark reports sellers for October shipment, FOB Baltic ports, €140.00, but buyers a few Euros lower.
German 2RS barley sold for Oct-Dec delivery, delivered South German malthouses at €150.00. All prices are at least € 10.00 higher than a few weeks ago. The worst part is that there are hardly any sellers in the market, and that will remain so till crop results are a bit clearer in Germany, Denmark and the U.K
