Brewing news China: Chinese beer output tops the world four years in a row

The beer output in China has been the highest in the world for four years in a row making China a giant beer producer. Xiao Derun, Vice Director-General of China Alcoholic Drink Industry Association (CADIA) revealed the news on the press conference for the 2006 China International Beer Festival held recently, according to People's Daily Online statement posted on July 7.

Statistics show that by the end May, the sales volume of beer had amounted to 12.4076 million kiloliters, an increase of 15.40 per cent from the same period last year. It is reported that the investment from foreign-funded companies in the beer industry has reached 1 billion Yuan, making it one of the largest targets of foreign funds.
