Barley news Ukraine: Malteurop is expected to start the construction of a new elevator in Kharkov

French company Malteurop, the world’s third largest malt producer, is expected to start soon the construction of a new elevator in Kharkov, Ukraine. The news was announced by the authorities of Kharkov region during their visit at the malting plant based in Kharkov, construction of which was financed by Malteurop.

About USD 30 million were spent to built this malting plant, 80% of which were supplied by Malteurop, the rest were obtained as bank credits.

Malteurop owns 2 malting plants in Ukraine: one in Kharkov and the other in Chernigov with a total production capacity of 105,000 tonnes per year. Malteurop total production is of about 1.1 million tonnes, that is about 6.5% of world malt production and 20% of world malt trade. The company annual turnover is of about EUR 283 million per year.
