Brewing news Ethiopia: Harar Brewery to post profit of 10 million birr in the mid term budget year

Harar Brewery says it earned a net profit of 10 million birr in the mid term budget year. Employees and the Labour Union of the Brewery awarded their manager an automobile. While presenting a six month performance report on March 26 , the Brewery Manager Juneidin Basha said the brewery netted the stated sum of profit due to the concerted efforts and the strong relation between the management and employees as well as the quality of its products, according to the Ethiopian Herald.

Juneidin stated the brewery's capital, which was 26.8 million birr in 1986 E.C., has now reached 156.2 million birr owing to a host of measures taken to raise production capacity.He said the brewery's products are certified by the International Standards Organization (ISO).

The factory produces 70 million bottles of beer annually, he said, adding the expansion project being carried out at a cost of over 80 million birr would be finalized in the coming three years.The manger said the factory covers the medical and education expenses of its employees and gives life and on job accident insurance coverage for its employees.

Chairperson of the Board of Directors of the Brewery, Major General Bacha Debele handed over the key of the automobile employees and the Labour Union awarded to the manager.

It was indicated on the occasion that the employees and the Labour Union awarded the automobile in recognition of the general manager's contribution to make the factory profitable by motivating the employees and coordinating the activities of the brewery. The general manager was also credited to coordinating the efforts to provide the employees with social security service.

Employees and management members who made unique contributions to enable the factory gain international awards have also been awarded.
