USA: Coors Brewing Company kicks-off super bowl weekend with an XL Celebration
Molson Coors Brewing Company announced on February 4 that its subsidiary Coors Brewing Company, the official beer sponsor of the National Football League and Super Bowl XL, hosted its fourth-annual pre-Super Bowl Party Friday night in Detroit. This year's event was held to commence the biggest weekend in football and take time to show gratitude to the host city.
During the party, Coors donated $40,000 to The Harrington Family Foundation, which provides support, either financial or through donation of autographed memorabilia, to local and national non-profit organizations who help children receive a quality education and proper health care in a safe and nurturing community. Detroit Lions quarterback, Joey Harrington, was on hand to accept the donation from Pete Coors.
"We are proud to be associated with such a great foundation and thrilled to help raise money for underprivileged children in and around the Detroit area," said Pete Coors, chairman of the board,
Coors Brewing Company. "We are grateful to the NFL, its players and all of the donors who participated in this event and made tonight a success for The Harrington Family Foundation."
The pre-Super Bowl Party comes after the announcement that Coors and the NFL signed a new multi-year sponsorship agreement, following three successful seasons as partners. "To be associated with the greatest sports property in the world is an immense honor and we are extremely pleased to continue our partnership with the NFL and be part of historic Super Bowl XL," said Coors.
In addition to Harrington and other Detroit Lions players, this year's pre-Super Bowl Party featured numerous NFL stars including, Cincinnati Bengals quarterback, Carson Palmer, Baltimore Ravens tight end, Todd Heap, and Denver Broncos defensive back, John Lynch.
