Sweden: 2006 barley and malting barley forecast

Spring barley area for 2006 is expected to decrease to around 335,000-340,000 ha from 369,000 ha in 2005, H. Abildstrøm & Co ApS posted on December 2005. Using yield 4.25 ton/ha; Production 1.4 – 1.45 million tonnes (1.56 million tonnes in 2005). Malting Barley % (which not swinging dramatically) around 20 %. Malting barley production is forecast at around 280.000 tonnes. Domestic demand at about 290,000 tonnes. Normal import between 30-50,000 tonnes. Export estimate 30-40,000 tonnes

PRESTIGE 30%
PASADENA 15%
BARKE 5%
OTHERS 10%
