Brewing news India: United Breweries assigns Kingfisher Brand to local pub

United Breweries Limited announced on December 22 it has assigned its brand name "Kingfisher World" to a local pub for the first time in the northern region, as part of its brand promotion exercise, Asia Pulse communicated on December 23.

"The main idea behind naming a pub as Kingfisher World is to promote the Kingfisher brand in this region," United Breweries Limited Area Sales Manager Arvinder Singh said here on December 23. "We are planning to brand three to four more pubs in Punjab," he added.

Although, it would not be an exclusive Kingfisher outlet yet more than 80 per cent of beers served will be of the company, another official said.

UB Group holds 47 per cent market share in the beer segment in Punjab with the total sales of 400,000 cases of beer annually. The company also has a brewery in the city with capacity of 400,000 cases per month, said the company official.
