Barley news Australia: Grains Research & Development Corporation (GRDC) appointes a new Deputy Chair

Grains Research & Development Corporation (GRDC) appointed a new Deputy Chair, in the person of Victorian grain grower from Warracknabeal, Ross Johns according to the Ezigrain report of 11 December.

In 1999 Victorian growers elected Mr Johns to the Board of ABB Grain Ltd. Mr Johns has participated in many overseas marketing missions and visited Russia in 2004 on behalf of the GRDC to study first hand the state of the burgeoning grains industry in the Ukraine.

Mr Johns said that his ongoing involvement as a Board member is extremely challenging.

“The increasingly complex and competitive international grains industry, together with pressure on research and development funding, make it essential for everyone involved in grains R&D to work together more effectively to maximise the return on research outputs. The GRDC therefore plays a pivotal role in developing the industry through the R&D investments made on behalf of both grain producers and the Australian Government,” he stated.
