Brewing news Russia: Efes is likely to build the largest brewery from Siberia in the region of Kemerovo

Last week the administration of Kemerovo region ( Siberia) announced that in the next year on the territory of the region the Turkish brewery Efes could begin the building of a new plant .

The building of plant which will be the largest in Siberia can begin in Kemerovo city in 2006, according to the press release of Kemerovo region’s administration.

The investment into the project will be of 2.5 billion rubbles and it will create 700 new jobs. Sergey Cheremnov, the press- secretary of the governor of region Aman Tuleyev, confirmed theor negotiations with Efes and the readiness of administration to allocate a sector for the plant building.

In the opinion of experts, the market of Siberia is very attractive for the brewery companies, since in the European part of Russia the increase potential of market is to a considerable degree exhausted.

Now in Siberia the beer consumption is of 90-100 million hl per year, the market potential being estimated at 120-130 million hl.
