Brewing news Belgium: InBev entering in negotiations over beer supply contract with Spirit Group

The world’s largest brewer by volume, InBev SA said it has entered in talks with Clearbrook Capital Partners over a beer supply contract with Spirit, ahead of the private equity group's proposed acquisition of the pub chain company, AFX agency announced on November 7.

InBev stated the agreement 'would have credit terms' but would not involve 'equity participation, management or board representation'. The Leuven-based brewer added that discussions were in 'preliminary stages'.

This would confirm an earlier report in The Times last weekend that the brewer is seeking a supply agreement with Spirit.

According to the report Clearbrook is one of three bidders -- alongside Punch Taverns PLC and property entrepreneur Robert Tchenguiz -- vying for Spirit in a purchase worth 3 bln stg.
