USA: Farm prices and malting barley prices a bit higher for September
The North Dakota Field Office of the USDA's National Agricultural Statistics Service released on September 29 a report in which it states that September's Index of Prices Received for All Farm Products of 117 % with the 1990-1992 base represented a one percent increase over the August preliminary figure, but is down eight percent from last year and one percent below two years ago.
The All Crops Index is at 116 % of the base, down eight percent from September 2004 and the 125 % All Livestock Index is a decline of 4 % from last year.
The Index of Prices Received for All Farm Products for August, recalculated with full month prices, was 112 % of the base, the same as July's index, but down eight percent from August 2004. The All Crop Index at 113 % was up one percent from July 2005, but down eight percent from the previous year and the All Livestock Index of 111 % was three percent lower than last month and six percent lower than a year ago.
Feed barley prices continued to slide with the $1.30 a bushel price down five cents from last month, while malting barley increased six cents to $1.90.
