Barley news Australia: Appointment of new executive positions at ABB Grain Ltd

ABB Grain Ltd announced on October 17 the appointment of Mr Bill Gill as the company’s new general manager – group manufacturing, and Terry O’Connor as general manager corporate services.

Mr Gill was previously managing director of Joe White Maltings, the wholly owned malt production subsidiary of ABB Grain; while Mr O’Connor previously held the position of general manager New Zealand.

Under his new role, Mr Gill will reduce his day-to-day involvement in Joe White Maltings to take on additional responsibilities of managing ABB’s fertiliser division and ProGrain, the latter based in Laverton, Victoria.

ProGrain’s operations include containerisation of bulk and bagged grain for export, besides a full range of grain cleaning, grading and bagging facilities.

ABB Grain managing director, Michael Iwaniw, said JWM’s chief operating officer, Andrew Gee, would be responsible for the operation of Joe White’s.

In his new position, Mr O’Connor will be driving synergies within ABB and will be directly responsible for the company’s human resources and corporate affairs divisions, as well as New Zealand operations. He will be relocating to Australia from New Zealand to take up the position.

Don Ruxton, currently deputy general manager New Zealand, will become general manager New Zealand.

As part of the restructure, Simon Clifton also joins the company as human resources manager and will report directly to Mr O’Connor.

“I want to wish Bill, Andrew, Terry and Simon all the best with their new roles within ABB and I feel sure they’ll greatly assist in the further growth of our company in the years ahead,” Mr Iwaniw said.
