Brewing news Denmark: Carlsberg announced new appointments in its top management

Carlsberg A/S announced on October 5 that with effect from 1 April 2006, Jørgen Buhl Rasmussen, 50, will become Executive Vice President at Carlsberg with responsibility for Carlsberg’s businesses in Eastern Europe, including BBH and Poland, as well as the Balkans, Turkey and Israel. Rasmussen comes from a position as Regional President in the Gillette Group, based in the UK, with responsibility for Russia, Central Europe (East), the Balkans, Turkey, Middle East and Africa.

Jørgen Buhl Rasmussen will become a member of the Executive Board of Carlsberg A/S where he will replace Executive Vice President Paul Bergqvist, who will reach retirement age and therefore step down as Executive Vice President on 31 March 2006.

With effect from 1 January 2006, Paul Bergqvist's position as CEO of Carlsberg Sweden will be taken over by Stig Sunde, 42, who has been with Carlsberg since 2000. He is currently Commercial Director and Deputy CEO at Carlsberg Sweden. Before this he was Commercial Director at Ringnes, Carlsberg’s Norwegian subsidiary.

"We are very pleased to have Jørgen Buhl Rasmussen join the Executive Management team. He has many years of operational experience in markets of key importance to Carlsberg and brings to our Group strong expertise in marketing and sales of fast-moving branded consumer goods," says Nils S. Andersen, President and CEO of Carlsberg. He adds that Paul Bergqvist will be greatly missed in the executive team. Paul Bergqvist took up the position of CEO of Carlsberg Sweden in November 2004 on top of his duties as Executive Vice President at Carlsberg A/S following a period of significant restructuring at Carlsberg Sweden.

“The turnaround of our Swedish business is now well on track, and this allows Paul Bergqvist to pass on the job as CEO of Carlsberg Sweden to Stig Sunde. However, we are very pleased that Paul has agreed to continue as a member of the BBH Board as well as to become Chairman of Carlsberg Sweden, thus securing continuity in these two important businesses for Carlsberg," says Nils S. Andersen.

From 1 April 2006, the Executive Board of Carlsberg A/S will consist of Nils S. Andersen, President & CEO, Jørn P. Jensen, Executive Vice President & CFO and Jørgen Buhl Rasmussen, Executive Vice President.
