Ukraine: In January-August 2005 Ukraine’s beer production increased by 20.7%
In January-August 2005 Ukraine produced about 16.5 million hl of beer that is a 20.7% increase versus the same period last year, according to figures revealed by ZAO Ukrpivo. The increase was attributed to big breweries. Meanwhile the share of small beer-makers decreases substantially. In January-August 2004 Ukraine produced about 13.63 million hl of beer, a 10% increase versus the same period 2003.
The same source said that country’s beer exports increased by 6.6% this year so far. For 2005 Ukrpivo forecast 20 million hl of beer output compared to 19.3 million hl in 2004. About 10% of beer produced in Ukraine is exported.
