Barley news Ukraine: Barley cropped from 98 % of forecast area

Agrarian Policy Ministry announced in an operative report that as of August 26 Ukrainian farms combined barley from 4.34 million hectares which is 98 %of forecast area. The collection now stands to 9.82 million tonnes with an average yield of 2.26 tonnes per hectare. In Odessa Oblast Regional harvest has been the largest, wherein the farmers obtained 888,400 tonnes of the crop at a yield of 2.30 tonnes per hectare.

The crop as of August 26, 2004 amounted to 12.17 million tonnes. The yield was ahead of this year's, averaging at the time 2.73 tonne per hectare. Last year as of the same date barley had been harvested from 4.47 million hectares or 95 %of the area then projected.
