Brewing news Czech Republic: Czech Anti-Monopoly Office gives OK to Plzensky Prazdroj

The Czech Anti-Monopoly Office has accepted the plans of Plzensky Prazdroj brewery to set up its own network of Pilsner Urquell Original Restaurants, Hospodarske noviny announced on August 8.

This decision overturns an original verdict where franchising contracts between the brewery and restaurant operators are regarded as competition rules violation.

UOHS said an yes to the restaurant chain launch on the condition that the brewery must not limit restaurant operators in what beer they sell. The condition means that Pilsner Urquell Original Restaurants could also tap other kinds of beer, the daily states. Alexej Bechtin, PR spokesman says the company would respect the new UOHS resolution.
