The Netherlands: Holland Malts new malting plant is in the final phase of construction
Holland Malt B.V. announced on July 5 that its new malting plant is in the final phase of construction and will be fully operational in August 2005. The plant will be operational just before the arrival of the new malting barley crop from the northern part of the Netherlands.
The construction started early 2004. The decision of building the Eemshaven plant is mostly market-driven. Reallocating inland production capacities in Wageningen and partly in Lieshout to a location in a deep see harbor in a malting barley area, gives Holland Malt excellent opportunity for source its raw materials and for servicing its customers all over the world.
The Eemshaven plant consists, besides a new malting house of 120.000 tons capacity, of a dedicated malting barley storage facility of 60.000 tons. Thanks to innovative and patented malting production methods and the cooperation with the Netherlands largest cereals cooperation Agrifirm, Holland Malt will be able to produce premium malt. Premium brewers already show a large interest in Holland Malts new production facility.
