UK: Constellation Brands Inc. reported 7 % growth on strong sales of imported beers

Constellation Brands Inc., a leading international producer and marketer of beverage alcohol including beer, reported on June 30 net sales at $1.1 billion, up 18 % over prior year, and reported net income and EPS growth of 47 percent and 45 percent, respectively, for the first quarter ended May 31, 2005.

Excluding the acquisitions, the company reported top-line growth of 7 % on strong sales of imported beers such as Mexico's Modelo and China's Tsingtao. A favorable foreign exchange rate also contributed to the growth. In the first quarter ended May 31, 2005 Constellation’s net sales for imported beers were up 10%.
