News from e-malt Russia: Molson Coors is to control 2% of the Russian licensed beer market by the end of 2005

By the end of this year the world’s fifth largest beer maker, Molson Coors Brewing Company, plans to hold 2% of the Russian licensed beer market. According the brewery, sales volumes of Coors Fine Light, the main brand of Molson Coors in Russia, amounted for 12 thousand hl.

By the end of 2005 the company forecasts to increase sales volumes up to 50 million hl and the market share of Coors Fine Light on the Russian licensed beer market will increase to 2%.

According to experts, the segment of licensed beer accounts for 5% of Russian beer market and is to increase up to 8% in the next years.

Molson Coors started brewing Coors Fine Light in March 2005 at the brewery OOO “PIT Company” in Kaliningrad on a contract basis with Coors Brewers Russia Ltd. In April 2005 Coors Fine Light brand was already available in Moscow and St. Petersburg.

Molson Coors Brewing Company owns 18 breweries. It is on the first place in Canada and UK beer markets and the third place on USA beer market.
