UK: Moorhouse Brewery invests £750,000

Moorhouse Brewery, the Burnley-based brewery, is to invest £750,000 to expand its production capacity.

It plans to double the size of its brew-house to reach a target level of 500 barrels a week and purchase its seventh pub while also increasing its workforce by 25 %.

David Grant, managing director, said: "This investment plan has been achieved through the hard work and dedication of the whole workforce at the brewery. In recent years we have grown the business by more than 30 per cent year on year in the face of declining beer sales generally. This is a fantastic achievement for an independent craft brewer.”

He announced the plans at a victorian costume event on the East Lancashire Steam Railway to celebrate its 140th anniversary which was attended by celebrity guest Patrick McGuinness of TV comedy Phoenix Nights.
