News from e-malt Russia: The Government proposes to raise beer excise rate by 9%

On May 12 the Russian Government considered the draft Federal Law “On amending of Article 22 and 26 of Part 2 of the Russian Tax Code”. In particular, the draft law proposes to adjust beer excise rate by 9%, The Association of Russian Brewers posted. Presently, the beer excise rate constitutes 1.75 rubles per liter.

The Association of Russian Brewers considers the change of state tax and excise policy principles concerning the brewing industry to be one of its primary working trends. In the nearest future the draft federal law will be introduced to the RF Duma for consideration.

In connection with the growth of mean level consumer goods prices and with an allowance for prospective inflation level for 2006 the draft law proposes to adjust specific excise rates of excisable goods.
