Canada: Brick Brewing Co. Ltd. is to build a C$7 million distribution centre

Canada’s Brick Brewing Company Ltd. announced on April 25 it is about to begin construction on a C$7 million building designed to accommodate its growing business. Brick has enjoyed tremendous volume growth in the past two years, fuelling the need for increased distribution capabilities and warehouse space.

Located on a seven-acre parcel of land in Kitchener Ontario, the 100,000 square ft facility will be leased by Brick, and will consolidate three regional distribution warehouses that Brick presently operates.

"Given the impressive economic growth in the KW area, it took us almost 18 months of searching to find the right spot," said Jim Brickman, Executive Chairman and Founder of Brick. The new location will be centrally located on Bingemans Centre Drive in Kitchener, right across from the entrance to Bingemans Park. "We've been part of this community for over two decades and it was imperative for us to maintain our roots here in the KW area," said Jim. "It's nice to have one foot in Waterloo, and now one foot in Kitchener as well. We can proudly say that we're truly a KW brewery," added Jim.

Brickman estimates that the new warehousing and distribution facility will not only bring together existing employees but will also eventually provide new employment opportunities. The facility is scheduled to open in the fall of 2005.
