Vietnam: Carlsberg Vietnam outlines new steps towards net-zero emissions
Carlsberg Vietnam has outlined new steps towards net-zero emissions at the Green Economy Forum 2025. The Danish brewer joined a panel on direct power purchase agreements to discuss how foreign investors can support Vietnams green transition, Vietnam Investment review reports.
Managing director Andrew Khan said Carlsberg Vietnam has used I-REC certified renewable electricity since 2022 and plans to join Vietnams DPPA scheme. The company is also preparing on-site solar projects to help reach net-zero production emissions by 2028, in line with Vietnams 2050 targets.
Carlsbergs Phu Bai Brewery in Central Vietnam now runs on renewable electricity and biomass-powered steam. New equipment and automation have cut water use by 20 percent and energy consumption by 15 percent, while supporting goals of zero waste to landfill by 2025 and fully recyclable or reusable packaging by 2026.
Khan noted that long-term power purchase agreements are already central to Carlsberg Groups strategy in Europe and Asia. He said DPPA in Vietnam can strengthen clean energy infrastructure, modernise the power market, and deepen technology and knowledge exchange between Vietnam and Europe.
Carlsberg Vietnam also highlighted its social programmes in Central Vietnam, home of the Huda brand. The companys water and Tet initiatives have supported tens of thousands of people, and recent flood relief donations helped communities in Hue and Danang, earning Carlsberg Vietnam the 2025 EuroCham Community Impact Award.
