New Zealand & Czech Republic: DB Breweries has recently announced that it is adding imported beer Budejovicky Budvar to its premium portfolio and premium bars around New Zealand will soon be able to offer discerning drinkers a taste of the Czech Republic.

Budejovicky Budvar brand manager, Ben Shaw, says Budejovicky Budvar will be available for trade purchase from 1 June and is a welcome addition to DB Breweries’ strong premium beer portfolio. “Budejovikcy Budvar hails from a strong brewing tradition that is well known for its quality taste. It will be accessible to the New Zealand market through top level premium outlets nationwide,” says Ben. “Budejovicky Budvar is synonymous with premium quality, and its packaging reflects this up-market status. Each bottle is embossed with the logo, and has the wax seal of quality.

Budejovicky Budvar hails from the town of Ceske Budejovice, which has a proud 700 year brewing heritage. It has been brewed in only one brewery from a local recipe since 1895 and today is exported to more than 50 countries. Ben says that Budejovicky Budvar is brewed over a strict 90 day maturation process, utilising Saatz hops and Moravian malts, as well as water from the brewery’s own 300m deep wells. “As the premium beer market in this country continues to grow, drinkers are looking for that beer with a point of difference, a brew that has quality historically entrenched in its European brewing credentials, I believe the addition of Budejovicky Budvar to DB’s range is a reflection of this.”

Budejovicky Budvar will be available in selected bars from 1 June and has a recommended retail price of $6.50 - $7.50 per bottle. It is available to on-premise outlets in 4 x 6 cases.
