Barley news World: Barley trade forecast increased on higher exports from Australia, Kazakhstan

World barley trade forecast for 2025/26 is 28.889 mln tonnes versus 28.689 mln tonnes forecast in June and 28.951 mln tonnes forecast for 2024/25, USDA said in their July report.

Export expectations are up for Australia and Kazakhstan (+200 thousand tonnes to 6.9 mln and 1.5 mln tonnes, respectively), while Russia’s volume is down 200 thousand tonnes to 3.4 mln.

World barley crop is seen at 144.825 mln tonnes vs. 145.973 mln forecast last month and 143.336 mln tonnes estimated for 2024/25. Crop forecasts are down for the EU (53.1 mln tonnes from 53.3 mln in the June report), Russia (17.7 mln vs. 18 mln in June), the UK (7.125 from 7.3 mln), Turkey (6.1 mln tonnes from 6.65 mln forecast last month), and Ukraine (5.5 vs. 5.7 mln).

World barley consumption is seen at 145.352 mln tonnes (146.572 mln tonnes forecast for 2025/26 in June, 146.655 mln tonnes forecast for 2024/25) and ending stocks at 18.011 mln tonnes (18.277 and 18.538 mln tonnes, respectively).
