EU: Malt exports slow down for crop year 2024/25
In what is no surprise to European maltsters, the EU is reporting a slowing down of malt exports for crop year 2024/25. As a result, 2024/25 now trails 2023/24 by 1%, and 2022/23 volumes by 5.1%, RMI Analytics said in their latest report.
The current years malt exports have slowed rather dramatically over the past 8-10 weeks.
Domestically, the results from Europe are also disappointing as Q1 has started very slowly as evidenced by major brewer reporting. For Heineken, European volumes declined -4.7%, while Carlsberg reported -1.7% for Central and Eastern Europe and +0.8% for Western Europe. A major boost in volumes is needed during Q2/Q3, the analysts stress out.
