Barley news Argentina: Barley crop estimates unchanged for both 2024 and 2025

Very good rainfall amounts have fallen across Buenos Aires province. The result is very good soil moisture levels setting up well for crop’25, RMI Analytic said in their latest report.

The extremely wet conditions in southern Buenos Aires province are negatively impacting logistics execution. Crop estimates for crop’24 and crop’25 remain unchanged at 5.0 mln tonnes and 4.9 mln tonnes respectively.

Export licence declarations for crop’24 totalling 2.5 mln tonnes (1.8 mln feed and 0.7 mln malting), with open demand still estimated but not declared as yet within South America nor for global markets (e.g. China and India).

Prices are unchanged to down slightly on a FOB Basis, and weaker for farmer FAS values. Hard currency buying restrictions have been lifted, giving farmers easier access to USD and should improve liquidity going forward. While buying interest from China is sporadically appearing, inquiries from Saudi Arabia have turned quiet, with limited interest shown for weeks.
