Brewing news USA, CO: Halfpenny Brewing Co. closes down in Denver

Another brewery in the Denver-metro area is closing down, this time in a suburban city, MSN reported on March 28.

Halfpenny Brewing Co., in Centennial, announced this week it will shutter after operating for nearly a decade. The brewery, at 5150 E. Arapahoe Road, will host its last day on Saturday, March 29, it said in a Facebook post.

“As you may know, our lease is up shortly and we have made the difficult decision to close the taproom so that we can focus on selling the equipment and getting everything wrapped up,” the brewery said in the post.

Halfpenny was founded by high school friends Chris Reigrut and Chris Garner, whose roots are steeped in brewing traditions. Reigrut grew up in Germany and Garner’s great-grandfather was a distiller and brewer before the Prohibition, according to Halfpenny’s website.
