USA, NC: Mannkind Brewing shuts down

After being in business for a little more than a year, Mannkind Brewing in Leland has shut down, WWAYTV3 reported on December 2.

The brewery posted the announcement on Facebook on Sunday, saying it would not be opening that day as they were officially closed for business. Shortly after, the brewery deleted its social media.

The post read in part, “This decision has not been made lightly, but circumstances have led us to this path. Please know that your kindness and encouragement have meant everything to us.”

The brewery held its official grand opening in August of 2023.

This closure follows a nationwide trend of the craft beer industry struggling to make ends meet.

The North Carolina Craft Brewers Guild said 34 breweries opened and 17 closed across the state in 2023.
