Europe: Hop crop totals 62,282 tonnes in 2024
Germanys 2024 crop came in at 46,315 tonnes with an average yield of 2.3 tonnes/hectare. This represents a slight 0.3 t/ha improvement from crop 2023, Hopsteiner said in their latest Guidelines for Hop Buying report.
The hop crop for the rest of Europe amounted to 15,967 tonnes so the entire European crop came in at 62,282 tonnes.
The oversupply in Europe is contained in forward contracts with brewers. For this reason and due to a smaller crop, the volumes available from the spot market are limited. Despite these limited volumes, spot prices remained low, reflecting the soft beer market.
