China: China Resources Breweries Limited (CRBL) announced on March 30 that it will purchase Zhijiang Jingxing Breweries for 100 million yuan (US$12 million) and make it a beer production base in Yichang that will have an annual production capacity of 100,000 tonnes, according to Asia Pulse report. With the acquisition of this beer project in Yichang, China Resources Breweries Limited will have a total of 39 production bases in China.

Zhijiang Jingxing Breweries was founded in 1987 with an annual production capacity of 50,000 tons. It went bankruptcy in August 2004 due to various reasons. It is disclosed that China Resources Breweries Limited will pump 50 million yuan into Zhijiang project this year.

The first phase project with an annual production capacity of 50,000 tonnes of beer will be put into production in July this year. Later, another 50 million yuan will be injected into the project to upgrade production capacity and improve the hardware facilities.
