France: Number of breweries reaches 2,954 this year
In accordance with Frances National Federation of Brewing Associations (FNABRa), as of June 30th there were 2,954 active breweries in the nation, Rayon Boissons reported on October 11.
The above number comprises:
492 brewpubs;
287 nanobreweries (with annual output up to 150 hl of beer);
110 farm breweries;
1,735 microbreweries (with annual output below 1,000 hl of beer);
152 traditional breweries (brewing between 1,001 and 5,000 hl per year);
49 classic breweries (brewing between 5,001 and 100,000 hl of beer per year);
11 industrial breweries (above 100,001 annually);
11 multinational breweries.
The rest of the industry players are breweries of unknow capacity, companies producing beer in partnership with other production sites, or brewing schools.
