Brewing news USA, TX: Granger City Brewing now open in Granger

A revitalized Granger City Brewing is now open at 109 W. Davilla St. in Granger, Taylor Press reported on October 19.

The city held a ribbon cutting just before the brewery and restaurant began serving patrons at 11 a.m. Friday, Oct. 18.

In March, owners Natalie and Todd Coporon bought the space that used to house the original Granger City Brewing Co., which closed in July 2021.

“We’ve been waiting for this for a long time, so be prepared to be very busy,” Mayor Monica Stojanik said to the couple at the ceremony.

Natalie Coporon thanked the community for helping the pair get the business off the ground.

“We appreciate all the support, goodwill and help,” she said to a gathering filled with family, friends and supporters. “Lots of people have stopped by to offer help. You talk about a community that comes together, you know, not just in a crisis, but in something that’s gonna help everybody.”

Her thanks included Sawyer Griffis, a teen involved in a traffic accident on a call answered by Todd Coporon, who is a volunteer firefighter. Griffis was stuck between a trailer and a gate.

Griffis, who quickly recovered from his injuries, came to the brewery’s grand opening with his family to show support for the couple. Their help during his recovery allowed him to continue playing football, the couple said.

“Again, that’s just an example of community,” Natalie Coporon said. “They’re here supporting us, and that’s how we met. … He is a very strong kid. When (first responders) were working on him, he was just calm, and he was just standing there … with that pain.”

The couple focused on maintaining as much of the historic building as possible. They plan on dedicating a wall inside the space to showcase Granger’s history, having collected donations of old photos, newspaper clippings, signs and more.

“We stopped by one evening to peek in the beautiful windows to be welcomed by the owners for a private tour,” reads Rachel Kronke Guerrero’s Oct. 10 Facebook review. “Their attention to EVERY detail is unbelievable in restoring this beautiful 1905 historical building in downtown Granger.”
