World: Barley trade forecast unchanged in USDAs August report
World barley trade forecast has been left unchanged at 27.479 mln tonnes in USDAs August report.
Export volume is forecast down for the EU (6.6 mln tonnes vs 7 mln in the July report) and up for Ukraine (+200 thousand tonnes to 2.4 mln) and Kazakhstan (+200 thousand tonnes to 1.5 mln).
Import forecasts for the worlds two largest buyers of barley China and Saudi Arabia are left unchanged at 10.2 and 2.2 mln tonnes, respectively.
Global barley trade 2023-24 is forecast at 30.567 mln tonnes.
World barley crop 2024-25 is seen this month at 145 mln tonnes, slightly down from 145.067 mln in the July report and up from the 2023-24 crop forecast at 142.441 mln tonnes.
Global barley consumption is seen at 148.519 mln tonnes (148.079 mln tonnes in the July report, 142.169 mln in 2023-24) and ending stocks at 17.562 mln tonnes (17.906 and 21.081 mln tonnes, respectively).
