United Kingdom: Greene King plc announced on March 14 the appointment of Jane Scriven to the board as a non-executive director with effect from 18 March 2005. She will also become a member of the audit committee. Jane Scriven has been on the board of Geest plc for nine years where she is currently the managing director for Continental Europe. She was previously with Norton Rose and is a qualified solicitor.

David McCall, chairman of Greene King, said: 'We look forward to welcoming Jane Scriven to our board and believe that her breadth of experience will be a great asset to us'.

This appointment brings the number of non-executives to five, including the chairman. There are also five executive directors. The company is still looking to appoint one further non-executive director. No further details remain to be disclosed as required under chapter 16.4 of the FSA Listing Rules.
