Colombia: Scottish & Newcastle, the Edinburgh-based brewing giant, is understood to be interested in buying Colombian brewer Grupo Empresarial Bavaria - which owns brands such as Cristal, Aguila and Atlas, Business Scotsman posted on March 1. But Britain’s biggest beermaker is likely to face stiff competition to land the company, which is valued at about £4.2 billion.
S&N refused to comment on the possible swoop, but one source close to the company said: "We’d be interested in looking at Bavaria."
