Brewing news USA, CT: Tree House Brewing Co. opens brewery on 100-acre Woodstock farm

The highly coveted “White Whale” of craft beer is now selling its products in Connecticut, the Hartford Business Journal reported on July 10.

Tree House Brewing Co., which opened a fermentory on a 100-acre Woodstock farm in 2019, has begun offering retail sales at its Connecticut facility.

Located at 54 Joy Road, Tree House Farm & Fermentory offers a draft list that includes two pales, one with Peacharine, Citra and Riwaka hops, and another with Simcoe and Citra, according to an announcement on Twitter.

In addition to the new brewery, the farm features “a large fruit tree orchard, berry block, produce program, hop fields and chicken flock,” the announcement says.

Tree House, founded in 2011, opened its first brewery in a tiny red barn in Brimfield, Massachusetts. It moved to a Koran Farm in Monson, Massachusetts in 2013 following a zoning dispute.

Tree House quickly became a destination for craft beer-seekers from across the country and outgrew its location. Customers would wait in line for hours to fill growlers of newly released seasonal and experimental brews, mostly IPAs.

In 2014, Tree House built a new brewery and taproom that was six times larger across the street. As the brewery increased in size, so did its fanbase. Even after debuting the sale of canned beer, it couldn’t keep pace with demand.

Tree House expanded to a new 53,000-square-foot brewery in Charlton, Massachusetts in 2017.

Since then, it has continued to grow. In 2019, Tree House purchased the Woodstock farm, where it uses alternative brewing methods, including fermentation.

Tree House also maintains breweries in Monson and Deerfield, and a taproom and brewery on Cape Cod. Tree House cans are not sold at third-party stores.
