Brazil: Number of breweries increases to 1,729 in 2022
Brazils Ministry of Agriculture and Livestock said on July 5 the nations beer sector grew by 11.6% in 2022 with the addition of 180 new breweries, Forbes Brasil reported.
Total number of breweries in Brazil was 1,729 last year versus 1,549 in 2021.
The state of Minas Gerais saw the opening of the biggest number of breweries in 2022 33, taking its total to 222 companies and moving the states ranking to the third by number of breweries in Brazil. Sao Paulo still leads the list with a total of 387 breweries operating in the state, followed by Rio Grande do Sul with 310 breweries.
Brazil is the worlds third biggest beer producer after China and the US and is expected to produce 16.1 bln litres of beer in 2023, an increase of 4.5% versus 2022, Euromonitor International said.
