Barley news EU & UK: Barley prices are down in France, Denmark, and the UK

French barley prices are down in both Creil and Mosel, with crop 2022 finished trading and quotes are mostly nominal at this stage, RMI Analytics reported earlier this week.

For crop 2023 prices are down but less so, as dryness concerns have not completely disappeared despite the recent rains.

The continued dry conditions are making farmers disengaged from selling at the moment, and are likely to continue until crop 2023 develops further and is more certain (e.g. more rain arrives).

End-users (e.g. brewers) are showing interest at these lower price levels but liquidity is limited due to lack of farmer engagement.

Barley prices are lower in both Denmark and the UK too. There have been recent trades of UK to continental buyers, and shipment of coaster cargos remains brisk but rainy weather is slowing logistics execution.

End-users appear to be comfortably covered, with existing contract pricing a remaining open topic, the analysts said.
