EU + UK: Barley crop forecast unchanged at 58.47 mln tonnes

There are no major changes to the EU27+UK 2022/23 barley crop forecast – it is maintained at 58.47 mln tonnes, RMI Analytics said in their early December report.

Barley shipments are currently trailing the 2021 levels.

While moisture conditions are very good for winter barley, the arrival of cold temperatures is an area of concern, especially in France where severe cold could have a severe impact on autumn-sown spring varieties, the analysts said.
