United Kingdom: The possible move of the famous Young's brewery from its historic Wandsworth site has pushed the value of the property up to between £30million and £50million, Wandsworth Guardian posted on February 15.

The speculation and potential windfall from the five-acre site in Ram Street, in the heart of Wandsworth Town, will put extra pressure on the company to call in the movers.

No final decision has been made on leaving the plot where Young's has been a landmark since the 19the century, and this week chief executive Stephen Goodyear told industry watchers: "The review into the commercial potential of the brewery site is continuing. Of course we are acutely aware of the brewery's place and roots in the community here and so this makes any decision about its future very difficult."

The results of the review will be put before shareholders for them to decide, he said, but uncertainty clouded earlier assurances that it would stay in the borough of Wandsworth. Mr Goodyear added: "If we did move we would certainly look to stay in Wandsworth - but it is very difficult to find an appropriate site."
