Brewing news USA, CO: Denver Beer Co. announces plans for a massive fourth location in Denver

Beer drinkers in east Denver will soon be able to visit Denver Beer Co. without traversing the city.

The brewery announced plans for a massive fourth location Tuesday, March 15 in the Lowry Field neighborhood, which will include an onsite restaurant, brewhouse and outdoor beer garden that borders a neighboring park. Denver Beer Co. anticipates breaking ground next month and opening by the end of the year.

DBC opened its original location on Platte Street in 2011 and has been growing rapidly due to “the fact that we’re building communities and people are loving our beers and our experiences,” co-founder Charlie Berger said. In 2020, the brewery produced more than 25,000 barrels of beer, up 301% compared to 2016, according to the Brewers Association.

That growth inspired the company to expand to locations on South Downing Street in Denver, in Olde Town Arvada and now Lowry Field.

Berger said Denver Beer Co. is building its newest facility, at 7070 E. Lowry Blvd., from the ground up at the Exchange at Boulevard One development. There will be a 4,200-square-foot taproom complete with a restaurant and brewery, plus a 5,400-square-foot patio. In all, it will be able to accommodate 485 people.

The seven-barrel brewhouse will create recipes specific to the new location, as well as DBC favorites for patrons to enjoy while sitting on the patio, by a firepit or while playing games in the outdoor space. The restaurant will serve similar eats to the eatery at DBC’s South Downing location, including its popular chicken wings.

Denver Beer Co. plans to continue its efforts in sustainability by including solar panels in the design, and offering electric vehicle and bike parking. The brewery already captures carbon dioxide emissions from fermentation and sells it to cannabis growers, and all its employees drive electric company cars, Berger said.

Additionally, the Lowry location is expected to create 30 jobs.
