Barley news World: Barley balance sheet the tightest in many years

As 2022 begins, the world barley balance sheet is the tightest in many years with ending stocks at a ten-year low and demand outstripping supply for the first time in three years, RMI Analytics said in their early January report.

Strong Chinese demand and the beer market rebound are leading the demand situation. Overall world production is reduced to 147.9 mln tonnes (down 0.2 mln tonnes from the previous report at the end of December and nearly 11 mln tonnes lower than crop 2020).

Canada, Russia, the EU, and the UK are leading the supply drop.

In early January, the criticalness of crop 2022 is already higher than usual and more concerning, due to current market conditions.
