EU: Barley crop estimates now fairly uniform at 54 mln tonnes
In the EU, total grain crops changed in extreme numbers from last year: Spain plus 33.3%, Poland plus 15%, France minus 18.8%, Romania minus 51.5%, H. M. Gauger GmbH reported on November 2.
2020 barley crop estimates have become fairly uniform at 54 mln tonnes for the EU-27, and 8.4 mln tonnes for the U.K.
Spring barley is up from 25.8 to 29.4 mln tonnes in the EU and from 4.5 to 6.3 mln tonnes tons in Great Britain; the latter due to a large spring acreage after failed autumn plantings in 2019.
AGRESTE reduced French crop figures of 2020 for the third time: winter barley to 6.6 mln tonnes, minus 28.9% y/y, and spring barley to 3.95 mln tonnes, minus 12% y/y
