The world grain crop is a record 1.615 billion tonnes, by 50 million tonnes more than the expected consumption for the first time since years. Also the barley crop of 152 million tonnes is the largest in recent years, expected consumption 144 million tonnes, end stocks 30 million tonnes, up from 22 million tonnes last year, analysts revealed. Nevertheless FOB feed barley prices have increased by almost US$ 60,- since July/August. FOB EU/Black Sea prices are US$ 130,-, as compared to US$ 95,- FOB Gult ports for U.S. Yellow Corn. CFR price level for barley to Saudi-Arabia is US$ 178,-/180,-. Winter grain plantings went well in the Northern Hemisphere, at present prospects are good for the crop of 2005.
