Brewing news USA, AZ: Queen Creek Town Council votes to recommend microbrewery licence approval for AFT Brewery LLC

Queen Creek Town Council recently voted to recommend that the state liquor board approve a Series 3 in-state microbrewery license for AFT Brewery LLC, Your Valley reported on May 8.

Bruce Frederick of 19312 E. Calle de Flores in Queen Creek submitted the application to the Arizona Department of Liquor License and Control.

Several e-mails from members of the public in favor of the license application were read into the record at the May 6 Town Council meeting.

“The company produces high-quality products and will be an asset to the local market,” Sanjay Khunkhun of Chandler wrote.

“Having tasted samples of AFT, I can say without a doubt that this would be an exceptional addition for consumers to try,” Tim Flores of Chandler wrote.

“Nothing hits the spot quite like an ice cold beer on a warm summer day in Arizona. And if it’s from a local brewer? It is twice as enjoyable to have a great product and support local business,” he said.

The Town Council voted unanimously to approve the recommendation to the state liquor board in a public hearing consent agenda with other items. On the dais were Vice Mayor Julia Wheatley and Councilmembers Jake Hoffman, Robin Benning and Emilena Turley. Meeting by telephone were Mayor Gail Barney and Councilmembers Jeff Brown and Dawn Oliphant.

The Maricopa County Sheriff’s Office District 6 Patrol Division conducted a review of the license application and found the proprietor and business are within compliance of state liquor department requirements, MCSO Capt. Greg Lugo said in a letter to the Town of Queen Creek.

Floor plans with the microbrewery license application show the 750-square-foot building will have 120 square feet for beer-kegs storage and 120 square feet for brewing. The business is also to have a 500-square-foot patio.
